Multiplication requires memorization. Many children, and even some of us adults, find it difficult to memorize all of our multiplication facts. This often leads to negative experiences with multiplication. However, children memorize songs and lyrics quite quickly- maybe even faster than adults. Through music, Skip’s Counting Jams help children memorize their skip counting sequences as the key to learning their multiplication facts. The games and activities in this method help to reinforce children’s memorization of the sequences and then connect that knowledge to the actual math concepts of multiplication. The music and movement at the core of this approach allows for more engagement by all children, including children with learning differences, English language learners, as well as much younger children who are usually considered too young to work with multiplication. The over all result is - multiplication can be mastered naturally by all children through fun and enjoyable experiences.
